about

Hello, Nathan Power here from the Better Band Band Booker Blog series. This is the first in a series of podcast episodes that will tie in with all the topics I talk about on my blog. If you haven’t had a chance to check that out I’d encourage you to head over to the Better Band Booker Blog and have a look.

Today’s podcast is a chat I had with Michael McPherson, one of Melbourne’s great band leaders, bass players and band bookers. It’s an incredibly candid chat full of little tips and tricks, and a great insight into Mick’s personal enthusiasm for life, music and band bookings.

Mick gives some great ideas around what to do to make your band a better sell for venues, what independent artists should be doing to build their long-term careers and an interesting perspective on inclusivity within the Melbourne music scene (and what we can do about it).

I’m always interested in hearing feedback, so feel free to drop me an email at thebetterbandbooker@gmail.com to let me know what you thought of the episode and if there’s specific questions you have that you’d like me to address.
